The Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation will be spending AED 72 million on different charitable projects this year during the blessed month of Ramadan.

The budget that has been set has been of much interest considering the fact that there was a hike of around 102% in the budget. According to a chief official, AED 35.5 million was spent the year before on charitable projects, both domestically and internationally.

Deputy Chairman of the foundation’s committee of trustees, Ibrahim Bu Melha, said that from the AED 72 million expected to be spent on good causes this Ramadan, AED 49.5 million will be spent on domestic projects and AED 22.96 million will be spent on international projects abroad.

Mr. Bu Melha also mentioned that the foundation is excited to start up a total of 58 different charitable projects, all with the intention of helping and benefitting thousands of people who are needy, poor, and come from lower income backgrounds. He stated that around 39 African, Asian, European, and Latin American countries would also be benefited from this fund.

Bu Melha is also an advisor and consultant to Dubai’s ruler for humanitarian and cultural affairs. The foundation has reserved more than AED 13.2 million, which is to be spent in commemorative memory of the famous anniversary of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan on Zayed Humanitarian Work Day.

A total of 5 schemes are expected to be carried out under his consultancy, one locally in the UAE and the other four in three different countries.

All the while, the foundation has increased the food packets and baskets by around 16% compared to the amount given last year. Food for those who are needy this Ramadan; this was in association with the Lulu Hypermarkets.
